Two leaders were honored recently for their exceptional service to youths of this area by The Colonial Trail District of the Colonial Virginia Council Boy Scouts of America,.

At a recognition dinner in Windsor, Scoutmaster Bill Evans of Troop 25, sponsored by the Chuckatuck Ruritan Club, and Mike Rasnake of Troop 41, sponsored by the Windsor Ruritan Club, were presented the District Award of Merit, which is the highest recognition a district can give its leaders.

Exceptional service to youths meant that these leaders put in time and energy into making young men into good citizens of the future. This energy included training, teaching skills in outdoor crafts and indoor activities that sometimes take the form of patching up bumps and bruises or making dinner for a boy whose meal just fell into the campfire.

Both Evans and Rasnake have taken advanced training in Scouting skills by earning their Woodbadge and by attending many training courses that assist them in guiding future leaders.
