Breedlove, Harrell help Saints bounce back to win

Bryan Breedlove had 15 points and Todd Harrell 13 as Nansemond-Suffolk Academy used a 24-11 fourth-quarter explosion to shoot past visiting Norfolk Christian 47-39 on Tuesday night. The Saints will host Portsmouth Christian today and play their Senior Night game against Greenbrier Christian on Friday.

Suffolk girls fall in first round of tournament

The Nansemond River and Lakeland girls basketball teams saw their seasons end on Tuesday, as the Lady Warriors fell to Indian River and the Lady Cavaliers to Great Bridge in the first round of the Southeastern District tournament.

Challenger Little League holding registration

Challenger Little League Baseball is now taking registration for the spring season. This program offers a structured athletic activity for players ages 5 to 21 with physical and/or mental disabilities. The first team meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, March 1 behind Driver Elementary School, in the board room above the concession stand at the Bennett’s Creek Little League field. Suffolk 14U basketball team looking for sponsorship

The Suffolk Blazers girls 14U AAU basketball team is seeking sponsorship, new uniforms and other equipment. The team also has other expenses that have to be paid, such as traveling. Anyone interested in helping this deserving and appreciative group of young ladies should call 729-5905 or 651-9564.

BC Little League holding tryouts Saturday

The Bennett’s Creek Little League will be holding tryouts Feb. 21 at Driver Elementary School for Spring baseball and softball players age 7-16. Fees are $50 for the first child, $40 for the second, and $30 for each additional child. The league is attempting to put together a Big League Boys Baseball team this year. This will be for boys ages 16 -18. Anyone from District 6 is welcome to participate. If interested, please come to one of the above registration dates or call Rick Williamson 483-0883.
