Elijah Evans, 69, of 210 Cedar St., Suffolk, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, in Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin.

He was predeceased by his wife, Hattie; mother, Mary, and father, Andrew Evans.

He was employed at JJ&A as a construction worker.

He is survived by two stepdaughters, Maxine Evans and Patricia Evans of Suffolk; three sons, Elijah Riddick and Andrew Evans, both of Suffolk; and Michael Stevenson of Portsmouth; 12 grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20 in Harris Funeral Home Inc., 685 Carolina Road, with the Rev. Connell Evan presiding. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
