Clippers go 1-1 to finish second in tournament

The Lake Kennedy Clippers of Suffolk finished second in the Portsmouth Parks and Recreation tournament Saturday at the Joseph Lee Parker Center. The team opened the tournament with a 58-34 defeat of Chesapeake. Jeffrey Cooke set a new team record with nine steals, and Arthur Wellons led the team with 26 points and nine rebounds. The Suffolk squad fell 63-60 to the top-ranked Seahawks in the title game. Wellons again led with 20 points and 14 rebounds, and Teron Bell had 17 points.

Both Warrior squads held scoreless in soccer

First Colonial swept visiting Nansemond River in soccer on Friday night, with the Warriors falling 3-0 and their female counterparts losing 5-0. The Suffolk school will visit Norfolk’s Granby on Tuesday.
