Mike Cosby and Charlie Hardie, both Nansemond River High School graduates, now embark on their junior seasons at Christopher Newport University.

Cosby, who compiled a 7-4 record last season and struck out 110 as the Captains marched to second in the NCAA Division III World Series, is 3-2 this season with a 3.30 ERA and 38 strikeouts, compared to just seven walks.

Hardie, a backup catcher last season, has started all 15 games this year, and has batted in 11 runs, hitting .283.
