Clarence James &uot;Jim&uot; Mudge Jr., 57, of the 1500 block of James Landing, Chesapeake, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2004, after a courageous battle with cancer at home with his family by his side.

Born in Elyria, Ohio, he was the son of Clarence J. Mudge Sr., and the late Elsie K. Mudge.

A 1964 graduate of Granby High School in Norfolk, Jim then joined the Air Force until 1968. He received a degree in engineering from Old Dominion University in 1973. He was a member of the National Honor Society and Theta Chi Fraternity. He was employed with Ferguson Enterprises Inc. as a computer engineer.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Wanda L. Mudge; two sons, Chris Bowden, and wife, Jennifer, of Virginia Beach; and John Bowden, and wife, Jennifer, of Chesapeake; his father, Clarence J. Mudge Sr. of Suffolk; his sister, Cheryl Zimmerman, and husband, Wayne, of Ivor; grandchildren, Sara, Andrew, Samantha, Matthew, Hanna, Taylor, and Kearstyn; special nephew and great-nephew, Bryan and David Beamon; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, L.P. and Pat Goodwin of Virginia Beach; special friends, Dr. David A. and Penny Gallo; and his beloved canine children, Stormie and Moose.

The family wishes a special thank you to Dr. Valiant Tan and his nurses, Robin and Vicki, from Virginia Oncology Associates.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 3, in the Sidney F. Harrell Chapel of Harrell and Hill Funeral Home by Pastor Joe C. Fairchild. Entombment will follow in the Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery Mausoleum.

Friends may join the family at the residence following the committal.

Friends may also join the family from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
