Hester C. Smith, 63, of 219 Prospect Road, Apt. 217, Suffolk, died March 30, 2004, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. She was a daughter of the late Charlie and Agnes Walker Sr.

She was a member of New Mt. Joy Family Worship Center, where Bishop William P. Wiggins Sr. is pastor.

Survivors include her husband, Deacon William Smith; four sons, Charlie Smith (Valerie) of Hampton; Arthur Smith, David Smith (Angie), and Curtis Smith (Roberta), all of Suffolk; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five sisters, Ellen Walker Crump of Newport News, Lucy May Griffin of Norfolk; Frances Wyche, Addie Felton, and Laura Bernard (William), all of Chesapeake; four brothers, William Walker of Bolivia, N.C.; Wilbert Walker (Mezzetta), Charlie Walker Jr., and Gilbert Walker (Romania), all of Chesapeake; one sister-in-law, Thelman Woodson of Suffolk; two brothers-in-law, Billy Smith of Como, N.C.; and Richard Smith of Philadelphia, Pa.; three aunts, Mattie Davis of Sedley, Vinea Boddie of Norfolk; and Addie Boddie of Chesapeake; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The funeral will take place at 2:30 p.m. Monday in New Mt. Joy Family Worship Center, 307 County St., by Bishop William P. Wiggins Sr.

The family is receiving friends at the home of her son, Curtis, at 5817 Indian Trail Road (934-3090).
