A.R. Holcombe

Amy Riddick Holcombe, 80, of Suffolk, died Tuesday, April 6, 2004, in Obici Hospital.

Born on June 18, 1923, in Newport News, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Bruce and Amy Estelle Johnson Riddick, and widow of C.J. Holcombe Jr. Her sister, Margaret Riddick Jones, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Holcombe was a 1941 graduate of Suffolk High School, and a member of First Baptist Church.

She had retired from the Suffolk office of The Virginian-Pilot as a classified ad writer.

Survivors include her daughter, Emily Holcombe of Suffolk; son and daughter-in-law, Clifton J. Holcombe III and Leslie H. Holcombe of Medford, N. J.; granddaughter, Allison B. Holcombe; and grandson, Christopher B. Holcombe.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory by the Rev. Michael Turner, with burial in Holly Lawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
