Obici employees promoting annual cancer fundraiser

The radiology employees at Obici Hospital have stepped up to the plate to raise funds for the American Cancer Society’s &uot;Relay for Life.&uot; They have created not only 10 enormous gift baskets just in time for Easter, but also a remarkable quilt. Barbara Gardella, a registered nurse who is the coordinator of the Breast Health Center, created the quilt that features old photos of Obici Hospital reproduced on fabric.

Gardella and the rest of the radiology staff will be selling tickets the rest of this week from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The employees will be outside the cafeteria on the Garden Level.

Some of the basket themes include A Day at Kings Dominion Basket with two theme park tickets and picnic items; the Celestial Basket with a telescope and decorative items; Bird Watchers Basket, complete with a birdbath, binoculars, bird houses and bird feeders; and the Italian Basket with either wine or sparkling cider, pastas, pesto sauce, spaghetti sauce, and a Panevino’s Restaurant gift certificate.
