Rufus H. Kee

Rufus Henry Kee, 70, of the 100 block of North Ninth Street, Suffolk, died Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at his residence.

He was a native of Portsmouth and a son of the late Jesse Kee Sr. and Beatrice Holley Kee. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Georgianna White and Mary Brown; and two brothers, Zannie Kee and LeRoy Kee.

He had retired in 1997 from the Naval Supply Center where he had been employed for 16 years as a warehouseman.

He is survived by his wife, Annie Kee; a foster daughter, Annie Pearl Stevenson (John) of Portsmouth; one sister, Bessie M. Kee of Suffolk; eight brothers; Javan Kee of Philadelphia, Pa.; Jessie Kee Jr. (Louise) of New Haven, Conn.; James Kee of Norwalk, Conn.; Arthur Kee (Celia), Herman Kee (Mary Ann) and Jasper Kee (Shirley) of Suffolk; Frank Kee (Pastor Berthinia) of Waterbury, Conn.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The funeral will be held at noon Monday, April 19, in Tabernacle Christian Church where Dr. Carlton Upton is pastor. The Rev. William Linthicum will be the officiant.

Interment will be in Holy Lawn Cemetery.

The body will be taken at 10:30 a.m. Monday to the church.
