Joseph C. Jordan Sr.

Joseph C. &uot;Big Joe&uot; Jordan Sr., 77, of 324 Fuller St., Suffolk, died Wednesday, April 14, 2004, in Obici Hospital.

He was a native of Nansemond County, and son of the late Haywood and Reconstance Jordan. He was also preceded in death by two son, Floyd Collins and Larry Jordan.

He graduated from East Suffolk High School. He attended Bluefield State College, West Va.

He had retired from the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co. after 35 years of service.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Rosa Mae Collins Jordan; one devoted daughter, Gwendolyn M. Jordan of Suffolk; three sons, Thomas Lee Collins and Joseph Jordan Jr., both of Suffolk; and Edward Collins of Greenville; a devoted daughter-in-law, Virginia Mizell; one daughter-in-law, Patsy Jordan; three sisters, Marie Madison and Earlene Parson of Suffolk; and Clementine Scott of Bridgeport, Conn.; two brothers, Charlie Jordan and Earl Lee Jordan of Suffolk; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; eight sisters-in-law; five brothers-in-law; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and devoted friends, Jack Slaughter and William Purdie.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, in Crocker Funeral Home by Pastor Virginia Mizell and Elder David Williams.

Interment will be in Jones Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Windsor.
