Cooke makes AAA All-State squad again

Nansemond River senior Marquie Cooke was named to the Associated Press All-State first team for the second consecutive year on Thursday. Cooke, who led the Warriors to their third consecutive Southeastern District regular season and second straight tournament title, set school records in assists and steals and scored 2,100 points during his years at NRHS. He signed with Virginia Tech last fall.

Saints beat Trojans in tennis, 6-3

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy defeated Walsingham 6-3 in tennis on Friday.

Johnson lowest scorer in Saints’ win

LeCardi Johnson shot a 75 for the medalist honor as Nansemond-Suffolk Academy held off Cape Henry 322-324 at the Princess Anne Golf Course on Thursday (Peninsula Catholic scored a 417). The Saints will visit Hampton Roads Academy on Tuesday.

Three score two in Lady Saints’ 9-7 victory

Mary Flowers fired in three goals and Ellis Pretlow, Parris Grieder and Anne-Harvard Smith two each as the Nansemond-Suffolk Academy girls lacrosse team beat host Norfolk Collegiate 9-7 on Thursday.

The Lady Saints will visit Norfolk Academy Tuesday.
