George L. Croker

On Saturday, May 1, 2004, at 12:19, God sent an angel to Lake Taylor Hospital to bring back His servant, our beloved brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, Mr. George Lee Croker, home to glory.

He was a native of Nansemond County, born on March 5, 1937 to the late Virginia and Clifton Croker. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Emma Knight; uncle, Isaac Jones; and niece Annette Jones.

He was educated in the Nansemond County Public Schools System, where he later began his career and retired after numerous years of service as a custodian.

He was also a former member of Tabernacle Christian Church.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory sisters, Marie Croker and Mary Jones of Suffolk, and Doris Croker of Washington, D.C.; brothers, Willie Jones (Hazel) of Suffolk; William Croker (Terry) of Philadelphia, Pa., and Amos Turner of Atlanta, Ga.; an aunt, Fannie Jones of Chesapeake; a special and devoted niece, Deneen Croker; a devoted friend, Margaret Beale; and many nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Friday, by his niece, the Rev. Brenda Jones, in Tabernacle Christian Church, East Washington Street. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the home of Ms. Marie Croker, 206 S. Eighth St.
