Baby survives fall

A 19-month-old baby escaped serious injuries at around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday when she fell from a second-story window of an apartment building on Clay Street.

The little girl sustained a cut to her head and injury to an arm, however, the Nansemond-Suffolk Volunteer Rescue Squad transported her from the building in Downtown Suffolk to the Executive Airport.

There, she was airlifted to Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters by Nightingale Air Ambulance.

The child’s name was not released by Suffolk Police.
