Suffolk girls score big; battle today

Stephanie Owen (pictured) scored two goals as Lakeland defeated Deep Creek 5-2 on Tuesday evening. Brittany West had two goals and Nicole Klee one in the win. Nansemond River’s ladies also came out on top, as Natasha Hill kicked in both goals in a 2-1 win over Oscar Smith. Both Suffolk boys teams fought to 1-1 ties Tuesday, with Aaron Mule scoring for River and Jake Conrad for Lakeland. The Suffolk teams will battle tonight, as the boys play at Nansemond River and the girls at Lakeland. Kristin Brown and Kelsey Cutchins will attempt to help Lakeland to its first win over its crosstown rivals this millennium. In other action, Norfolk Christian defeated Nansemond-Suffolk Academy 4-0 in girls action.
