Shanita L. Golden

Shanita &uot;Lynette&uot; Golden, 26, of 131 North St., Suffolk, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2004, in Obici Hospital. She was a native of Suffolk and was a daughter of the late Bessie Mae Walker and the late Hershey Golden. She was also predeceased by a brother, Ernest E. Walker Jr.

She was a 1995 graduate of Lakeland High School, a member of St. Paul Baptist Church, a former member of the mass choir and Frankland Lankford Usher Board. She attended Paul D. Camp Community College, and was a former assistant manager at KFC.

Her survivors include four sisters, Sandra Walker, Jacqueline Ford (Willie), Marie S. Walker, and Stephanie Hargrave (Antonio), all of Suffolk; two brothers, Meatrice Walker and Vance Walker, both of Suffolk; 11 aunts, Dr. Adelaide Rice of Madison Heights; Lena Smith, Barbara White (Ollie), Martha Ralph, Cardell Porter (Samuel), Frances Towns, and Gracie Wilson, all of Suffolk; Ethel Powell (Harry) of Chesapeake; Florence Mercer (J.C.) of the Bronx, N.Y.; Sarah Parker (Joe Sr.) and Mildred Parker (Innell) of Philadelphia, Pa.; three uncles, Elder William Golden (Gertrude) of Virginia Beach; James Williams Jr. of Norfolk; and John Williams of Richmond; one sister-in-law, Lillie R. Walker; two godchildren, Shanti Edwards and Alexis Edwards of Portsmouth; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Paul Baptist Church by Elder Clarence V. Russell III. Interment will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery.

The body will be placed in the church at 11:30 a.m.
