Pearl E. Harrell

Pearl Evans Harrell, 93, of Primetime, Edenton, N.C., and formerly of Rocky Hock Creek Road, died Friday, May 21, 2004, in Pitt County memorial Hospital, Greenville, N.C.

Mrs. Harrell was born in Chowan County, N.C., and was a daughter of the late Zachariah Trotman and Effie White Evans. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Leon Harrell, her son-in-law, Thurman L. Ashley, a grandson, Todd Williams, sisters, Lillie Saunders and Lonnie Harrell; and brothers Carey, Edward, and Roland Evans.

A homemaker, she had formerly worked at Roses Department Store, had been an active member of the Advance Home Demonstration Club, and was a member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church where she had served as the WMU director, been a Sunday School teacher, Sunbeam Leader, and a member of the church choir.

Surviving are her daughter, Lois H. Ashley of Edenton; three sons, Aubrey E. Harrell, and wife, Jessie, of Williamston, N.C.; Sherwood L. Harrell, and wife, Faye, of Suffolk; and Zackie W. Harrell, and wife, Kathryn, of Gatesville, N.C.; three sisters, Beulah Williams of Franklin; Eleanor Byrum of Tyner, N.C.; and Helen Lowe of Suffolk; three brothers, Milton Evans, Marvin Evans and Alvin Evans, all of Edenton; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, Edenton, by Dr. James Horton. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery.

Friends may join the family from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home, and other times at the home of her daughter at 2320 Rocky Hock Road, Edenton.
