Eugene Gregory

Eugene Gregory, 91, of 629 Bentley Drive, Suffolk, passed away Friday, May 21, 2004, at his home.
Mr. Gregory was a native of Norfolk, and had lived in Suffolk for the past 28 years.
He had retired from the Lamberts Point Coal Pier of Norfolk Western Railroad, and also as a self-employed contractor.
He was also a part-time employee of the Department of Transportation, where he was a bridge tender at the King’s Highway Bridge, and a weigh technician at the Suffolk truck scales.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Brooks Gregory; two sons, Eugene F. and Gene L. Gregory of Virginia Beach; three daughters, Bobbi Wilson of Chesapeake; Margaret Battle and Pam Kelly of Newport News; and three stepsons, Grover Brooks of Portsmouth; Eric and Robert Brooks of Suffolk; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, in the Sidney F. Harrell Chapel of Harrell and Hill Funeral Home by the Rev. Bob Parks.
The committal service will begin at 1p.m. in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may join the family from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in his name to the Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad or the American Lung Association.
