Seven Saint fill TCIS All-lacrosse teams

A total of seven Nansemond-Suffolk Academy lacrosse players cluttered the All-TCIS squad, more individuals than any other team.

First team: Sam Markham, Willis Taylor, Bobby Flintoff

Second team: Joe Vidarte, Charles Persons, Kyle Jett, Chris Buttery

All but Markham will be back next year. Flintoff and Taylor also were named to the Honorable Mention All-State team.

Tidewater Storm tryouts held in early June

Open tryouts for the Tidewater Storm U16 field hockey team, which will head to Florida in November to compete in the United States Field Hockey Festival, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. June 1 and 3 at Lakeland High School. Suffolk Blazer golf tourney comes June 23

The Suffolk Blazers will hold a charity golf classic on June 23 at the Nansemond River Golf Club to raise money for the team’s expenses in traveling to national competition in late June. An entry fee of $95 includes 18 holes of golf with a cart, free drinks and lunch. The format is four-person best ball team. For more information, please call 735-3814.

DAA looking for youth football, cheering coaches

The Downtown Athletic Association is recruiting football and cheerleading coaches for the 2004 Pop Warner Football season. Participants range from 5 to 15 years of age.
