It was a knockout

Although the rain from Wednesday’s thunderstorm provided welcome relief from the heat, it did create its share of problems. Parts of Suffolk received nearly two inches of rain, flooding many of the city’s rural roads and fields. The Suffolk Department of Fire and Rescue answered at least eight calls for downed power lines, tree limbs fallen on wires (pictured), and fire alarms triggered by power surges. Power outages were reported in several areas. A tree snapped and fell on a home in the 1400 block of Planters Drive, causing moderate damage. Holland Road was just one of several places across the city where trees and limbs fell onto power lines.
