Summertime and the livin’ is easy, and to keep it that way Suffolk Police want to teach the public how to &uot;Avoid Becoming a Victim&uot; while enjoying the season.

Suffolk Police Officer Carl Adams said he and other Community Improvement Unit personnel will be stationed at Wal-Mart today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the sole purpose of teaching people how not to be a victim.

&uot;Criminals love the summertime because people not only take vacations, but also they are out of their homes taking walks and drives, and children are more likely to become statistics in the summertime,&uot; said Adams.

&uot;We want people to take a few simple precautions now to prevent negative events in their summer vacations. By taking a few simple precautions now and you’ll help keep the fun going all summer long!&uot;

He said the officers will be armed with plenty of information on how to protect your home, vehicles and families through four seminars throughout the day.

&uot;We will have the 45-minute seminars and they will cover a variety of information that will be of great help to the public,&uot; said Adams. &uot;This informtion is all free and the public is invited to come to Wal-Mart and participate in the seminars.&uot;
