Roy L. Harden

On Saturday, June 19, 2004, Roy Lee Harden was relieved of his trials and tribulations and surrendered his soul into the comforting arms of Jesus Christ, in Autumn Care Nursing Home.

He worked at Pruden Packing Co. for many years before his retirement. He was a faithful member of Balm of Gilead Missionary Baptist Church.

During his membership, he served as a devoted member of the male usher board and the male chorus, which he truly adored.

He was predeceased by his parents Ora and Robert Harden Sr.

Remaining to cherish fond memories include his wife Georgiann Harden; two sons, William Harris Jr. and Preston Harden; four brothers, Robert Harden Jr., Elder Elgie Harden, James Harden, and Thomas Harden; one sister, Bessie Mae Allen of Newport News; four sisters-in-law; six grandchildren, and a great-grandson, William Lee Askew, and many nieces and nephews.; and one aunt, Hattie Lee Deloatch of Murfreesboro, N.C.

The funeral will be held at noon Friday in Balm of Gilead Baptist Church by the Rev. Charles Leavell. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be taken from Peebles Funeral Home to the church at 10 a.m. After the service the family will fellowship at Gates of Heaven Church.
