Katherine &uot;Sue&uot; Akers, 64, of 1278 Portsmouth Blvd., Suffolk, died Tuesday, June 22, 2004, in Autumn Care of Suffolk.

A native of Grundy, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence W. Akers and Gladys Belcher Akers.

Survivors include a sister, Carol A. Moore of Suffolk; a brother, Lawrence J. Akers of Southern Pines, N.C.; nieces, Lisa M. Holland of Suffolk; Leigh M. Garrett of Sunbury, N.C.; Lynn M. Ashby of Windsor; Karen A. Govan and Patricia A. Bowen, both of Hampton; five great-nieces and seven great-nephews; a special friend, Ann M. Epps, and special nurse, Geraldine Cook.

Sue’s smile will be missed by all who loved her.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Sidney F. Harrell Chapel of the Harrell and Hill Funeral Home. The Rev. Mike Derflinger will officiate. Interment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
