Roosevelt’s words clarified

Editor, the News-Herald:

I noted in today’s edition that Robert Pocklington is understandably upset at the omission of &uot;So Help Us God&uot; from an excerpt of FDR’s speech inscribed on the National World War II Memorial. If that were true, I would be just as angry, but the fact is that the words were not there in the first place.

The words do appear further along in his address, but not at the end of the quote used on the Memorial. In any event, I will join forces with Robert in keeping an eye on the liberal revisionist who are constantly seeking ways to undermine the values that made our great nation what it is: &uot;One Nation Under God.&uot;
