Police searching for hit-and-run suspect

Authorities are searching for the person responsible for a hit-and-run accident on East Washington Street last week.

The accident occurred at 6:30 p.m.

Aug. 5 as a 50-year-old man was crossing the street on a bicycle, said Lt. Debbie George, spokeswoman for the Suffolk Police Department.

The victim was crossing in a crosswalk when he was struck by a westbound vehicle and thrown from the bike. He was taken to Obici Hospital and treated for broken ribs.

The suspect, a black female, was driving a newer model gold vehicle.
