A Virginia Beach man is facing charges in connection with last week’s fatality which claimed the life of a motorcyclist.

Thomas Ray Woods Jr, 24, died at the scene of the accident, which occurred on Aug. 11 in the 1100 block of Lake Meade Drive. According to police, Woods was traveling south in a 2001 Yamaha motorcycle as a 2002 Chevrolet van, driven by Lyndon R. Hayes, 50, of Virginia Beach, was north bound.

The two vehicles met in a curve and collided, according to Lt. Debbie George, Suffolk police spokeswoman.

Hayes has been charged with driving on a suspended license, reckless driving and failure to stay to the right of the roadway. The investigation is ongoing.
