Fred E. Ballard Jr., 58, of Suffolk, died November 29, 2004, at Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News, Va.
Fred was a 1965 graduate of East Suffolk High School; attended North Carolina A&T Univ. of Greensboro, N.C.; and a veteran of the U. S. Army. He retired from Newport News Shipyard and was a contractor for Ameri-Force Craft Services, Inc.
He was predeceased in death by his father, Fred E. Ballard, Sr. and a brother, Bruce Q. Ballard. Fred is survived by his mother, Mae C. Brodie of Suffolk, three sons, IT 1 Ronald Ingram of Suffolk, Vernon Ballard of Jarratt, Va, Varian Ballard (April), of Gates, N.C., one daughter, Yovonda Ingram of Upper Marlboro, Md., five sisters, Amelia Ballard, of Vallejo, Ca, Jennifer B. Baker (David), and Wanda B. Morgan both of Suffolk, Mary Ballard of Charlotte, N.C., Tracey Burgess (Mac) of Hampton, two brothers, Tyrone Ballard of Suffolk, F. Anthony Ballard (Anita) of Charlotte, N.C., one uncle, Willie L. Ballard of Evanston, Il, a special friend Pamela Wilson of Suffolk, seven grandchildren and a host of nieces nephews, other relatives and friends.
A homegoing celebration will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2004 at Lakeview Baptist Church, Suffolk, with Rev. Dr. John E. Jones officiating. Interment will be at Carver Memorial Cemetery, Suffolk. Viewing will begin noon Friday at Crocker Funeral Home, 900 E. Washington Street, Suffolk.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mae C. Brodie, 408 Tradd Street, Suffolk, Va, where they will also assemble on Saturday at 11 a.m. for procession.
