Kyle Jett scored 20 points and pulled down eight rebounds and Adam Gillette yanked away nine as the Nansemond-Suffolk Academy offense ran wild in a 73-62 defeat of visiting Windsor on Tuesday evening. The Saints raced to an 8-0 lead just over three minutes in and never let the Dukes get within striking distance, not allowing their opponents more than five consecutive points through the first three quarters. Jett also led NSA with six assists, and Bryan Breedlove just missed a double-double with a game-leading 25 points and seven rebounds.

Jett bulled his way through the Duke defense for a layup 1:37 into the game, then quickly stole the ball (one of five steals for the night, two behind Jack Wright) and went back in for another bucket. Just over a minute later, the 6’6&uot; Gillette stunned the Dukes by rearing back and swishing a three-pointer.

Ryland Gwaltney and Jett knocked in five points in the first minute of the second quarter, and Jett and Breedlove tossed in six more to go up 28-12. Shawn Brock, Matt Cotten and Justin Clark scored for the Dukes, but Jett and Breedlove had eight points in the final 2:30 of the quarter to end the half up, 38-22.

Starting two minutes into the second half, the Saints went on the run that finished off the Dukes. Breedlove, Jett and Wright lit up the Windsor defense for 10 straight points and a 48-27 lead. Justin Griffin completed a three-point play to cut the lead to 18, but Breedlove neutralized it with his first long shot of the game, and liked it so much that he repeated the procedure a minute later. Gwaltney and Dan Byrnes followed suit, and Gillette scored his last points of the game as the Saints ended the quarter with a 63-38 lead, far too much for Windsor to overcome.

The Saints will host the Beach Breakers of Virginia Beach on Friday and Alliance Christian on Saturday.

The NSA girls fell 50-32 to host Norfolk Academy, and will visit Richmond Collegiate on Friday.
