James R. Daughtrey

James R. &uot;Buck&uot; Daughtrey Jr., 70, of 309 Bruce St., passed away on Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, in Obici Hospital.
He was born in Murfreesboro, N.C., to the late James R. Daughtrey Sr. and Bessie Lee Everett. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, retired as a glass mechanic with Walters Glass of Suffolk, was a member of VGW Post #2582, former member of the Peanut City Bass Masters, and was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Doris W. Daughtrey; son, Michael J. Powell of Suffolk; sisters, Shirley J. Owens of Farmville, N.C., and Barbara A. Smith of Denver, Colo.; brother, Aubrey D. Daughtrey of Newport News; half-sisters, Delores Cook of Windsor, and Doris Jones of Newport News, half-brother, David Daughtrey of Ahoskie, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Sidney F. Harrell Chapel of Harrell & Hill Funeral Home by Pastor Tony Peaks. Burial will be at Albert G. Horton Jr. Veteran Cemetery with military honors. Family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and other times at the residence.
