J. Ollie Jones

J. Ollie Jones, 82, or Greenway Road, went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 3, 2005.

Born in Nansemond Count, he was the son of the late Floyd and Annie Johnson Jones and the loving husband of Mavin Byrum Jones, who passed away in Feb. 2004.

A retired farmer, he was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Great Fork Baptist Church.

He is survived by his son, Linard T. Jones and wife Libby; one daughter, Marilyn Evans and husband Larry; one sister, Odell Everett and husband James; three loving granddaughters, Amanda Stewart and husband Dave, Cynthia Cale and husband Robbie and Vickie Bailey and husband Eric; a great-grandson, Nicholas James Stewart and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 5 in the Sidney F. Harrell Church of Harrell and Hill Funeral Home by the Rev. Jonathan Judy. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.

Friends may join the family at the funeral home this evening from 7 to 8 p.m., and at 1221 Willowbrook Drive at other times.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Great Fork Baptist Church Memorial Fund or to the American heart Association.
