Charles E. Rodgers

Charles E. Rodgers, 68, of 300 Briggs St., died Jan. 15, 2005 at Obici Hospital. He was a native of Norfolk County, born April 13, 1936 and was son of Ida E. Rodgers and the late Joseph Rodgers. He is preceded in death by two sons, Sylvester C. Bowers and Martin L. Bowers Clark; and a brother, Daniel Rodgers.
He was a foreman at Parker Peanut Company for 38 years and was employed at Birdsong Peanut Company for five years before his retirement. He was a member of the Hollywood-Jericho Civic League.
Surviving besides his mother; are his wife, Margaret B. Rodgers; nine daughters, Martha E. Murph, Joyce A. Bush (Alan), both of Norfolk, and Mary E. Rogers (Carlton) of Portsmouth, Grace E. Bowers, Justine Bowers, Cora L. Brown (William), all of Mich., Christine B. McCoy (Barry) of Chesapeake, Esther B. Paul (Christopher), and Mia Bowers, both of Suffolk; two sons, Isaac D. Bowers (JoAnn) and David M. Bowers, both of Suffolk; one sister, Mary E. Minnifield of Mich.; one brother, Ephraim Rodgers of New York, one aunt, Virginia C. Brown; three sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, 21 grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005 in Crocker Funeral Home, 900 E. Washington Street. Burial will be in the Bank’s Cemetery, Suffolk.
The family will assemble at the residence for the procession to the funeral at 11 a.m.
