Editor, the News-Herald:

Good evening, Dr. Liverman, Mrs. Skeeter, members of the Suffolk School Board and citizens assembled.

I appreciate the opportunity to address you this evening on behalf of the Suffolk Substitute Teachers Association as well as all substitute teachers who serve the teachers and students of the city.

Our association was founded in 1991 to have a unified voice for occasions such as this.

I represent those who provide such a necessary and vital service when regular teachers must be out of the classroom. We feel that we are professionals who are dedicated to maintaining the high standards of excellence in education in our city.

As now we need the support of each of the members of this board. As you study, plan, research and prepare the operating budget, kindly include $80 per day for substitute teachers. We finally want to thank you for all you have done.

Dr. Freddie J. Wiggins, president

Suffolk Substitute Teachers Association
