City leaders will be able to share their wish list with U.S. Rep. Randy Forbes, R-Va., next week.
The Suffolk City Council will meet with him at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Municipal Building.
Although Forbes initiated the meeting, the council will be setting the agenda, said Christine Boardman, Forbes’ spokeswoman.
He meets at least once a year with the local governments in municipalities in the 4th district, she said.
&uot; It’s an opportunity to update Congressman Forbes on local issues, voice concerns, give feedback on federal issues, and brainstorm any action items,&uot; she said.
The status of the city’s proposed Great Dismal Swamp and Wildlife Refuge’s interpretative center will be one to the topics discussed, said City Manager R. Steven Herbert.
He expects council will also inquire about the possibility of federal funds that would let the Virginia Department of Transportation move ahead with the Kings Highway Bridge.
