St. Phillip’s Pentecostal Church of Christ Holiness, located at 728 Ashley Ave., Suffolk, will hold a service to benefit its Usher Board Department at 7 p.m. Friday, April 22. The guest speaker for the service will be Evangelist Willie Riddick. Bishop Marshall C. Goodwin is the host pastor.

Women’s Day at Macedonia A.M.E

Macedonia A.M.E. Church at 127 Pine St. in Suffolk, will observe Women’s Day at 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 10. The guest speaker is Rev. Carol Powell of Gethsemane Baptist of Newport News. The Rev. Powell earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Hampton University and a master’s of social work from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Her ministry preparation includes the Evans-Smith Leadership Institute sponsored by the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology of Virginia and the Baptist General Convention of Virginia.

The Macedonia Male Chorus will present a concert in honor of the women at 4 p.m. Sunday. A Women’s Day prayer breakfast will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
