Eure the man!

Tim Eure had a doozy of a pitching debut for Nansemond River Monday afternoon, pitching for his first win of the season and scoring the winning run in the Warriors’ 8-7 defeat of visiting Great Bridge, their first win of the millennium over the Wildcats.
Down by one in the bottom of the seventh, David Mattei smacked a sacrifice fly to score Chris Rice, leaving the bases loaded with Eure on third. Then Josh Harrell hit a grounder to short, and Eure charged in for the victory.
Lakeland wasn’t as lucky, falling 12-2 to visiting Indian River.
Bridge edged host King’s Fork in softball, 2-1.
Both River diamond teams host Western Branch on Friday, with Lakeland hosting Deep Creek and King’s Fork going to Indian River.
