Two people were shot in the Colander Bishop community Wednesday morning, and Suffolk police have issued warrants for one of the victims.

In a surprising twist, police alleged after further investigation that Khadduri T. Brown, 28, was the triggerman. He originally told police that a stray bullet had struck both he and his ex-girlfriend, Teri Eley, 22, said Lt. Debbie George, police spokesman.

But as police dug deeper, &uot; The evidence was not consistent,&uot; George said. She added that it appears Brown allegedly shot Eley, and he was possibly nicked in the ankle after the gun was fired.

Brown was treated and released from Obici Hospital, and Eley, who was shot in the leg, was transported to Sentara Norfolk General for non-life threatening injuries.

Police arrived in the 900 block of Brook Avenue at 9:30 a.m. after being alerted that two people had been shot in an apartment.

Brown told police that a shot was fired through an open window, striking them both, said George. Police determined that Brown fired the shot at Eley during an argument.

Brown’s last known address is in the 900 block of Battery Avenue. Police plan to charge him with aggravated assault, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Brown should call Suffolk Police at 923-2350 or Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-U-Up.
