Henry A. Beamon

God has turned the sunset for Henry A. Beamon into a sunrise. He had a safe crossing from Earth into eternity. During the early evening of Friday, May 20, 2005, he departed from his earthly home. Henry Abraham Beamon was the son of Mamie Butts Beamon and the late Louis Norman Beamon. He was born Nov. 5, 1942 in Suffolk. He was a former member of St. Timothy Baptist Church. He retired from the Newport News Shipyard as an electrician.

He was a great musician and played at various churches, including St. Timothy Baptist Church, from which he retired in 1986, as well as Palm Tree Baptist Church and Mineral Spring Baptist Church.

Henry is survived by his loving mother Mamie Beamon; a sister, Mamie Beamon Rountree (Wallace) of Suffolk; an aunt, Elizabeth J. Beamon of Suffolk; a brother Louis Timothy Beamon (Yvonne) of Chesapeake; a lifetime and devoted friend, Rev. J.J. Ferguson; nieces Sonja Stevenson (Andre) and Robin A. Hylton (Wayne) and nephew Steve Beamon (Celia) and several other cousins, relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held from noon to 7 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2005 at the T.C. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home. Service will be held at noon Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at Mineral Spring Baptist Church in Whaleyville. Interment will be held at Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery.
