An estimated total of $13,500 was caused in this crash near the intersection of Carolina and Turlington Road just after 1 p.m. Wednesday. Mae McPherson of Waterbury, Conn. was traveling south on Carolina in a rented Kia (right) when she allegedly attempted to make a U-turn from the right. She was struck by a Fork pickup (left) driven by Debra Lynn Whitney-Dunn of Suffolk, and both vehicles slid across the intersection and hit Sherry Griffin Reid, who was waiting to turn onto Turlington in her Chevrolet (center). Reid was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Failure to yield charges against McPherson are pending.
