Maedetha H. Pelham, 73, of 320 Holladay St., Suffolk, died Friday, May 27, 2005 in Obici Hospital. She was a native of Nash County, N.C., and the daughter of the late Tom and Mary Hedgepeth. She was a member of Healing Chapel Baptist Church. She attended Swift Creek High School in North Carolina. She retired as a nursing assistant.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Timothy Pelham; one brother, Thurman Hedgepeth, of N.C.; mother-in-law, Lorraine Pelham and father-in-law, Alfred Lee Coles both of Suffolk; two sisters-in-law, Shelia Pelham of Suffolk and Darlene Pelham of Hampton; two brothers-in-law, William and Gregory Pelham of Suffolk, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2005 at T. E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2005 at T. E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home with interment in Holly Lawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at T. E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday.
