Mother and Daughter brunch

The Friends Christian Club is sponsoring a Mother and Daughter Brunch, featuring a musical show and games on Saturday. The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Holland Community House, 6887 Neverland Drive. Cost is $10 per person. For tickets, contact any Friends Christian Club member or call 934-0341.

King’s Fork fundraiser Saturday

King’s Fork Ruritan Club Fundraiser will have a barbecue, potatoes, slaw, hush puppies dinner catered by Leon Nixon Catering from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday. There is a donation of $7 per plate. Eat in or take out. For tickets see any member of call 539-0161.

Spring Cleaning

in Williamstown and Boston

Spring Cleaning is about to begin in the Williamstown and Boston communities. All trash will be gathered including, tree limbs, boards, large or small, on the street side to be collected by city workers on June 6-10. Medal appliances such as refrigerators, stoves, air conditioners etc. will only be picked up on Wednesday, June 8. All trash piles must not be larger than 6-feet x 6-feet x 6-feet high. Tree limbs must only be 6-feet in diameter 6-feet high. Call 539-5167 for more information.

Junior clinic at Nansemond River Golf Course

The Nansemond River Golf Course will have a Junior Clinic. The clinic is from 9 to 11 a.m. from June 20-24. The cost is $30 per junior. Call 539-4356 for more information.

Nansemond-Suffolk NAACP

The Nansemond-Suffolk Branch of the NAACP will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7 at the East Suffolk Community Center, 134 S. Sixth St. The executive committee will meet at 6 p.m.

Spring Fling at Kilby Shores

From 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 10, a Spring Fling and End of the Year Extravaganza takes place at Kilby Shores Elementary School. Fun-filled activities include a

Zero Gravity Game, mini golf, Froggy Fly Fling Game, Radar Speed Pitch, Super Shot Basketball, Cakewalk, Raffles, Lazer Maze, Chessie The Sea Monster, Wacky Trikes Grand Prix, Entanglement (Giant Twister), Carousel Moonwalk, Tsunami Slide (32′ High). Hot dogs, hamburgers, drinks, popcorn and cotton candy will be available. Carnival armbands will be sold for $10 each allowing unlimited access to rides.

Smithfield Gardens

Smithfield Gardens Inc. is celebrating its 16th annual Flower Festival Saturday, June 18. This is a day full of free classes, door prizes, and great sales.
