Healing Chapel today

The Healing Chapel Baptist Church, 2375 Godwin Boulevard, will observe its annual Women’s Day activities during the month of July. The theme for 2005 is &uot;What Every Christian Woman Should Know.&uot; Women’s Day will be observed at 3 p.m. today.

Evangelist Debra Joyner of Faith House of Refuse Ministries #1 of Suffolk will be the speaker. Evangelist Joyner is a prayer counselor for the Zeal of Obedience T.V. Ministry. She is the wife of Pastor Bernard Joyner, and the mother of two children. She is the daughter-in-law of Helena Joyner. Kenneth Shields and the Tri-City Chorale and soloist Rosa Lynch will render the music. Brenda Newland is the program chairperson. LaVerne Edmonds is co-chairperson. Youth Day at Laurel Hill

Youth Day will be observed at the Laurel Hill United Church of Christ, 8001 South Quay Road, Suffolk, at 11 a.m. today.

The speaker for the annual observance is Ms. Shinita Monger of Ahoskie, N.C. She is the daughter of Stanley and Ivy Monger Jr. She is also the granddaughter of J.P. and Marcell Faulk of Suffolk and the late Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Monger Sr.

Shinita is a 2001 graduate of Hertford County High School. She is a senior chemistry major at Chowan College in Murfreesboro, N.C. She is a member of Mill Neck Missionary Baptist Church, Como, N.C. The guest soloist for the service is Ms. Ava Artis of

Zion U.C.C. Linda W. Hill is the program coordinator. The Rev. Carl L. Sweat J. is the host pastor.

Vacation Bible School

at Southside Baptist

Southside Baptist Church, 917 Carolina Road, Suffolk, will hold a &uot;Rambling Road Trip&uot; Vacation Bible School from 6 to 8:45 p.m. beginning today through July 22 for children ages four through the 5th grade level. At 3 p.m. today, First Lady’s Day will take place at Olive Branch Baptist Church at 5200 Milner’s Road in Suffolk. Evangelist First Lady Carol Lyttle will be honored. The Rev. Glenn Lyttle Sr. is the host pastor.

at Piney Grove Church

Piney Grove Church will observe Men’s Day during worship service at 11:30 a.m. today. Elder Trevon Boone of Mount Joy Family Worship Center will be the speaker.

100 Women in church hats

At 3 p.m. toay, the deaconess ministry of Canaan Baptist Church on Nansemond Parkway in Suffolk, will sponsor &uot;100 Women in Church Hats and 100 Men in Black. The guest speaker is Lula Holland of Suffolk. Women are asked to wear the largest, smallest, oddest, classiest hat. Prizes will be awarded. Refreshments will follow the program. The Rev. Friendship Pentecostal Ho-liness Church, 2349 Godwin Blvd., Suffolk will host its 7th appreciation service honoring the pastor, Elder Howard E. Green. Mt. Zion Holiness

Yock Sale at St. Paul RZUA

Vacation Bible School, Boogie for Jesus
