Local authorities believe an already wanted Suffolk man may be connected to a string of robberies in Suffolk, Portsmouth and Franklin.

As of Wednesday, Suffolk Police still had not been able to track down Khadduri Brown, wanted for aggravated assault, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

In May, Brown, of the 900 block of Battery Avenue, told police that a stray bullet entered the window of a Colander Bishop apartment and struck both he and his girlfriend. Police later found the story to be false, and planned to charge him with the crime.

Now, Brown is considered a person of interest in a rash of bank robberies over the past five weeks in Suffolk, Portsmouth, and Franklin.

&uot;We are investigating the possibility that he may have some connection to the robberies,&uot; said Lt. Debbie George, spokeswoman for the Suffolk Police Department.

On Wednesday, police found a blue Pontiac on Hall Street in Suffolk that was taken during an earlier carjacking in Portsmouth. Brown was seen operating the car, which is owned by a Norfolk resident, said George.

On April 26, the Farmers Bank on Godwin Boulevard/Route 10 in Suffolk was robbed, and just one month later, the Bank of America downtown was hit.

Police believe a robbery at the Suntrust Bank on Second Avenue in Franklin may also be related to the area crime spree.
