A prayer breakfast for the benefit of the Brandon S. Barnes kidney transplant fund will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 18 at the East Suffolk Community Center. The family and friends of Brandon S. Barnes is sponsoring the event. The program participants will be the Rev. Dr. Mark A. Croston, Minister Beverly Goodman, Deacon George Richards, Helen Flynn, Beatrice Reeves, with Mamie Martin-Ross as mistress of ceremony. The guest soloist will be LaNita Wiggins. Hall Place to meet

Reading program at the library

The Suffolk Public Library System is sponsoring the 2005 Summer Reading Program for children of all ages. The theme is &uot;Funtastic Reading.&uot; Children can register for the reading program at Morgan Memorial Library, Bennetts Creek Library, Chuckatuck Library, East Suffolk Library Station and the Suffolk Bookmobile. Get your reflective address signs

A representative of the Nansemond-Suffolk Volunteer Rescue Squad will be at the Chuckatuck Volunteer Fire Department on Kings Highway, from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday to make and sell the reflective address signs.

The Chuckatuck Volunteer Fire Department will also hold a fish fry at this time, allowing participants to get signs made while they eat.Two-sided mailbox signs are $15 and one-sided house signs are $10.

Also, those who have already ordered signs can pick them up at this time.

SPOR-AC holding signups

The Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring the SPOR-AC Summer Leadership Program from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays July 11 to Aug. 4 at Nansemond River High. The program offers a variety of team-building activities, computers, educational seminars and field trips. Parents must have completed registration form, proof of child’s age and a $20 fee. Only checks and money orders payable to Ronald Williams, treasurer, will be accepted. Children must be between 12-15 years. Senior aerobics offered
