The Virginia Department of Transportation announced that the dates for upcoming regional public hearings on the Route 460 location study have been pushed back.

Public hearings will be held between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19 at Windsor High School, 24 Church Street in Windsor and on Thursday, July 21 at J.E.J. Moore Middle School, 11455 Prince George Drive in Disputanta.

The purposes of the public hearings are to present findings of the Route 460 Location Study and obtain input from the community. The Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) prepared as part of the ongoing three-year study is also now available for review.

The public hearing dates have been revised one week to provide additional time for public notification.

The schedule change also allows for the hearings to be held during a different week than those scheduled for the Southeastern Parkway and Greenbelt project, located in the Hampton Roads region.

&uot;We hope to have strong attendance at the public hearings. Public participation is a key component of our study,&uot; said Jim Clarke, VDOT Route 460 study manager.

The DEIS is available for review at area libraries and VDOT offices and also can be viewed from the study’s Web site: www.vdotvirginia.gov/projects/460.asp.

Citizens are encouraged to visit the site to learn more about the study prior to the public hearings scheduled for July 19 and 21.
