Fish fry at Gates of Heaven

Beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, Gates of Heaven COGIC, 112 Beech St., will hold a fish fry in the parking lot. Dinners include potato salad, string beans, rolls and dessert. The cost is $5.

Saturday Night Live Gospel Explosion

At 6 p.m. Saturday, a Saturday Night Live Gospel Explosion will be held at Faith of Deliverance Soul Saving Ministries, 239 Holladay St. featuring Minister of Music James Copeland Jr., the Voices of Deliverance, Nuwine Gospel Singers, Voices of Praise, Eric Knight, and Denita Baker, all of Suffolk and the Mitchell Gospel Singers of Portsmouth. Minister Trevon Boone, of New Mt. Joy Food for Living Ministries, is the master of ceremony.

The program will benefit the building fund. The host pastor is Bishop Clarence Copeland.

Bethlehem and Hillcrest present patriotic service

Hillcrest Baptist and Bethlehem Christian churches will present a patriotic service at 7 p.m. Sunday at Bethlehem Christian Church, 1549 Holland Road. Patriotic music will be performed.

Dr. Jarvis Hearn, interim pastor for Hillcrest Baptist, will deliver the message.

Services at Suffolk Presbyterian Church

At 3 p.m. Sunday, the Rev. Charles E. Chappell, pastor of Portsmouth United Church of Christ, will be the guest speaker for a special afternoon worship service at Chapel Grove United Church of Christ. The church is located at 7366 W. Blackwater Road in Windsor.
