A Bennetts Creek man who sexually abused two teenage relatives for the past several years could spend the rest of his life behind bars.

In a plea agreement struck Friday in Suffolk Circuit Court, Edward Brian Stoner Sr., 42, of Nansemond Drive pleaded guilty to two counts of forcible sodomy, two counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor and one count of solicitation to commit a felony.

As part of the agreement, four counts of sodomy, nine counts of indecent liberties and four counts of solicitation were dropped.

Stoner was arrested in February, after partially admitting to the abuse when the victims’ mother confronted him during a telephone sting, said Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Marie Walls.

Stoner never had sexual contact with the youngest boy, she said. However, Walls said, there was physical contact between he and the older boy on several occasions spanning a period of years.

Stoner will remain in Western Tidewater Regional Jail until his sentencing on Sept. 14.
