TGIF concerts continue tonight

The Constant’s Wharf 2005 TGIF Concert Series continues this evening, with The Oregon Hill Funk All Stars taking the stage on the banks of the Nansemond River at Constant’s Wharf Park and Marina.

The All Stars is a 10-piece band made up of, a pair of trumpets, a trombone, tenor sax, baritone sax, guitar, bass, drums, auxiliary percussion, and keys.

Along with performing a long list of original funk, the All Stars also promise covers of timeless artists such James Brown, Duke Ellington, and Marvin Gaye.

The park is located at the corner of Constance and Main, and parking will be available across Constance at the old courthouse.

Constance’s Wharf will open at 5:30 p.m., with the concert set to start at 6:30.

Admission to the park and concert is free.

Concert Series sponsors are Duke Automotive, Edward Jones, The Blair Brothers, Inc. and Budweiser.

The first event of the summer series was held June 24, and six more concerts are scheduled at Constant’s Wharf between now and the end of August.
