Sharks get past Suffolk to finish perfect season

The Nansemond Sharks completed a perfect regular season Saturday morning, charging past Suffolk 469-204 at the Suffolk YMCA.

Allana Lumbard started the meet for the Sharks by winning the girls 9-10 individual medley. Josh Goodwin and Ashmore Standing swept the 11-12, and Kayla Chandler won the girls 13-14. Jarred Baird and Maggie Standing swept the 15-18 races.

Georgia Richardson, Madison Ebel, Hayley Pennington and Austin Ebel won the Mixed 7-8 free relay, and Taylor Beale, Rachel Waller, Megan Coston and Stephanie Brereton got the 9-10. Weston Lumbard, Taylor Bono, Jessica Johnston and Ashmore Standing won the 11-12, Logan Sorensen, Lindsay Kiessling, Courtney Minga and Haleigh Wineman the 13-14, and Jarred Baird, Ryan Hanson, Danielle Waller and Kyle Jett the 15-18.

Olivia Bono won the girls 6U freestyle, and Hunter Kiessling and Madison Ebel swept 7-8. Weston Lumbard and Jessica Johnston won their respective 11-12 races, and Logan Sorensen and Haleigh Wineman followed suit in the 13-14. Kyle Jett and Morgan Thorndike ended the stroke by taking both 15-18 races.

Jordan Goodwin and Georgia Richardson swept 8U breastroke, with Emmy Jennings and Taylor Beale snaring the 9-10s and Josh Goodwin and Taylor Bono the 11-12s. Jeff Goodwin and MacKenzie Westfall got both 13-14 races, and Ryan Hanson and Katie Cook the 15-18s.

Olivia Bono won the 6U backstroke competition, and Nicholas Schwegal and Hayley Pennington got 7-8 wins. Ashmore Standing won in 11-12, and Peter Wrszner and Courtney Minga took 13-14. Taylor Keeling and Heather Wineman won in 15-18.

Now in fly stroke, Austin Ebel and Hayley Pennington won 8U, with Weston Lumbard and Taylor Bono winning 11-12 and Ben Woodyard and Allie Thorndike getting 13-14 victories. Ryan Hanson and Maggie Standing ended fly by taking 15-18 wins, and Austin Ebel and Georgia Richardson started freestyle by getting 7-8s.

Taylor Dailey and Jessica Johnston won 11-12, and Logan Sorensen and Haleigh Wineman 13-14. Jarred Baird and Katie Cook ended individual competition by taking 15-18.

Hayley Pennington, Madison Ebel, Austin Ebel and Georgia Richardson won the 7-8 medley relay, with Ashmore Standing, Taylor Bono, Shannon McDonald and Taylor Dailey getting 11-12. Courtney Minga, Jeff Goodwin, Kayla Chandler and Jill Goodwin won 13-14 and Danielle Waller, Ryan Hanson, Jarred Baird and Kyle Jett took 15-18.

Nansemond, Suffolk and the rest of the local recreation swim teams now prepare for the All-Star meet Saturday at Churchland.
