City Manager R. Steven Herbert will get the same pay raise that other city workers received this year.

On Wednesday, the Suffolk City Council voted unanimously to give a 4 percent increase to its four council-appointed employees: Herbert, City Assessor Maria Kattmann, City Attorney C. Edward Roettger and City Clerk Erika Jenkins.

The increase ups Herbert’s current $130,000 salary by $5,200. Last year, he received a 10 percent raise, a move designed to bring Suffolk’s administrative pay scale more in line with neighboring communities.

The pay will boost Roettger’s annual salary to $111,972. Kattmann and Jenkins will be paid $88,608 and $54,756 respectively.

The raise will be retroactive to July 1, the beginning of the city’s fiscal year.

Earlier this year, the council approved 4 percent average pay raises for most city employees. The only exception was for the public safety workers, who are receiving more as a result of a recently completed compensation study.
