Faith Hope and Love Ministries of Suffolk and New Jerusalem Holiness Church of Carrsville will have a joint Vacation Bible School beginning Aug. 1-4 at New Jerusalem from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. There will be lessons fro all ages, music, arts and crafts. Sunday School Union at Canaan Baptist

Canaan Baptist Church at 2064 Nansemond Parkway, Suffolk, will host the first session of the 119th year of the Nansemond-Isle of Wight Sunday School Union, Saturday and Sunday. The session will begin Saturday at 10 a.m. with youth choir rehearsal and registration of the 35 Sunday Schools. The general session will begin at 11 a.m. with devotions, an official presentation and the welcome.

The workshop theme is &uot;Empowered to become World Class Christians,&uot; Acts 1:8 and Mark 8:35. Workshop presenters include the Rev. Ernest L. Reid Jr., pastor of Olive Branch Baptist Church of Portsmouth. Wendy Bullock, vice president of the Nansemond-Isle of Wight Sunday School Union, is the youth session presenter.

After the lunch break, E.T. Langston, field worker, will provide an update of the union’s upcoming events. Sunday School Missionaries and delegates will provide reports regarding the Baptist Sunday School and B.T.U. Congress of Virginia at Longwood University.

On Sunday, Sunday School begins at 9:45 a.m. Ronald C. Thomas is the superintendent in charge. Morning worship service begins at 11 a.m. Pastor, the Rev. Robert L. Barnes II and congregation are in charge of the serve. After dinner, the youth will make their presentations. Chairwoman Bernice Bostic will present the missionaries finance report. Winners of the first and second place banners for the most funds raised will also be recognized. Additional reports will conclude the session. Willie F. Gary is the present.

Fall revival at Mt. Ararat

Mt. Ararat, located at 1860 Airport Road, will host its Fall Revival beginning Monday, Aug. 1-5. The Rev. Wendall M. Waller, pastor of Christian Home Baptist, is the speaker of the week Music will be provided each night including guest churches Balm of Gileon Missionary Baptist Church on Monday; Tuesday, Gethsemane Baptist Church; Wednesday, St. Paul RZUA; Thursday, Christian Home Baptist and on Friday, the Saratoga Community Choir will perform. End of the Summer Gospel Fest in Norfolk

At 7 p.m. Aug. 26, the Garden of Prayer Worship Center, 1001 Church St. in Norfolk, will feature Timothy Wright and the Love Fellowship Mass Choir, Paul Porter and the Christionaires, the Eveready’s, Norman Nutchins, Kiki Sheard, Group Determination, Lamont Bynum and Remnant and DeJu Mime. Jon Cash appearing at Western Branch Church

Jon Cash, WAVY-TV’s morning meteorologist and author of The Age Of The Antichrist and Thunder in Paradise, Satan’s Last Storm will be speaking at Western Branch Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Sunday. He will conduct a book signing in the fellowship hall following the morning worship service.

Family and Friends Day at In the Valley Ministries

In the Valley Ministries, of Missouri Baptist Church, Lake Cahoon Road,

presents its annual Family and Friends Day and annual Church Picnic on Sunday, Aug. 28. Morning worship services will begin at 11 a. m.

Evangelist Willie Riddick of Ahoskie, N.C. will be the special guest. The church picnic will follow the service. Basketball, volleyball, pony rides, and entertainment will be provided.
